The Island of Kauai

Remember Elvis Presley’s “Blue Hawaii”? Most of the movie was filmed on Kauai, as were many other big and small movies in recent years. It is no wonder that Kauai is one of Hollywood’s favorite filming locations. From bottom to top this island is filled with beauty. One breathtaking landscape follows another and the rich vegetation and the beautiful blue ocean are a tropical dream come true.
Waimea Canyon, the Hawaiian “Grand Canyon,” will make you speechless. Fern Grotto, one of the most romantic spots in the world, is a favorite spot for weddings. The Na Pali coast will take you back to prehistoric times. Poipu Beach and the very romantic Hanalei Bay will envelope you with their irresistible and unforgettable magic. Many amazing areas of Kauai are so hidden that they can only be accessed by helicopter or by boat.
Kauai is the oldest of the Hawaiian Islands and was therefore the first one to develop the lush vegetation that gave it the name “Garden Isle.” Over the years, erosion has formed some of most dramatic landscapes with steep walls, several thousand feet deep canyons, high waterfalls, dense jungles and sharp cliffs.
Of course, Kauai also has gorgeous Kauai beaches and water sports galore. The atmosphere is Hawaii island-style, laid-back and easy-going. Leave your alarm clock at home, forget your watch too and tune into the spirit of the island where time has a different meaning.
